Several stars ready for the race

On April 10, the 220 kilometer long Red Bull Nordenskiöldsloppet is taking place. And the stars continue to line up. Last in the line among the registered elite skiers is this year’s Vasaloppet winner John Kristian Dahl and the second place holder in women’s class Britta Johansson Norgren.

– It feels great that we are able to attract so many strong skiers during the first year that the race is back, says Daniel Tynell, sporting director of Red Bull Nordenskiöldsloppet.

Already known top names on the starting line are the Aukland brothers, Bill Impola, Jerry Ahrlin and Richard Tynell. And now they are joined by even more elite skiers.

Last one to sign up is none other than Vasaloppet winner John Kristian Dahl;

– There has been some talk about this race for some time. I read about the plans a few years ago. It is very exciting. I have never skied as far and during as long time before.

Besides Dahl and Johansson Norgren, Norwegian Tore Bjørseth Berdal and this year’s Vasaloppet third in the women’s class, Lina Korsgren, have also registered. The race has also attracted the veteran Terje Langli, who in the early 90’s won three World Championship gold medals and an Olympic gold medal for Norway.

Side by side with enthusiasts

Elite skiers will compete side by side with enthusiasts who are looking for a challenge beyond the ordinary.

– The starting field begins to look like everything we could ever hope for. I can hardly wait to see these skiers embark on their life’s challenge, says Daniel Tynell.

The great interest in the race has also shown in the great variety of nationalities. As many as 17 nations are represented so far, among them are many from outside Scandinavia such as Germany, USA, Canada, Austria, the Czech Republic, Russia, Poland, Italy, UK, Switzerland and Estonia.
