Daniel Tynell appointed sports manager

The organizers and committee are proud to inform that Daniel Tynell is appointed sports manager for Red Bull Nordenskiöldsloppet.

With 3 Vasaloppet wins in his back and his impressive background within endurance racing, Daniel is the perfect asset to the organization when this new type of a long distance races is arranged for the first time says organizer Wolfgang Mehl.

Daniel’s task will be to ensure all of the sportive aspects of the race are correct and make sure that the contestants have the best of conditions.

– Ultra races with increasingly tough challenges is a growing trend within endurance sports. Both the organizers and the competitors are put up to completely new challenges when you compete in theese distances. It’s going to be very exciting to work together with the organization and see a new form of competing move forward, says Daniel Tynell.

The participants will be both amateurs and elit skiers, staying out in the track for 10-30 hours. For them to have the best experience possible on the race day, Daniel shares some pre-training tips below.

”The better prepared the nicer the trip”

-training: the amount of hours you can put in before the race makes a difference! Put your efforts in doing more long low intensity passes than short high intensity passes.

-technique: take technique classes where they look at you individually with tips and advice on what you need to train on.

-mentally: try to prepare mentally, short term by thinking on what the reason is behind your training sessions furing the fall and winter before the race. Long term by knowing all you can about the race, why you are doing it and what it looks like. Divide your trip in several different parts and goals.

-diet and energy intake: think about refilling your energy and fluid levels in the days leading up the the race. How you refuel during the race will also affect how you race is going to be. Try to refill regularly every 20-30 mins. Small amounts often is better than large amounts more infrequently.

-equipment: ski the race with equipment you are used with!
